I had written about "Art for Love VS Art for Sale"...now I'm just bummed about the site not cooperating with me and posting it.
I'm exposing my emotion of anger and frustration...and that, is a great example of an artistic mind....very emotional and passionate about things, which also shows up in their art.
An artist isn't a person who can be creative and place images or colours on a piece of paper, canvas, wall or other (depending on the form of art of course)....but about the feelings attached to that piece. Not only about the personal connection the artist has with that piece as they create it but also the feelings left with the viewer.
My husband and I had a debate earlier today about sales....he thinking that I must connect with large city galleries for a greater chance at sales. And I am thinking that I just want to connect with other artists and start small/local and continue working on my technique while building an even greater love for the mediums I use (painting mainly, right now)
No one won this debate. Both are true to speak of:
No greater feeling for an artist than recognition and accomplishment of social media talking about their work....AND
No greater achievement when someone wants to purchase their work. (In hopes it will have a good home)
For me...Each creation is made with a little piece of me and how do I put a price on my worth....that is the question?
When it comes down to it... creativity, supplies, time, and a small profit (to buy more supplies) will make the cut.
Because.....I AM THE ART FOR LOVE type! :)
